About Diamonds
INTRODUCING THE 4 C’S
To ensure the highest standard of quality, Rome Jewels’ extensive collection is meticulously verified in-house and exclusively certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
We choose to work exclusively with GIA due to their stringent and rigorous testing methods. Commonly referred to as the 4 C’s, the key characteristics used to grade and certify diamonds are carat, cut, clarity, and color.
CARAT WEIGHT
Diamonds are measured in carats, a unit of weight. One carat equals 100 points, or 200 milligrams (one-fifth of a gram). Carat weight is typically expressed in decimals, though it can also be written as fractions.
For example, a 5.11-carat diamond is equivalent to 5 carats and 11 points, or “five point eleven carats,” weighing slightly over one gram. Similarly, a 2¾ carat diamond equates to 2.75 carats.

THE VALUE OF A CARAT
THE CUT
Several factors define a diamond’s cut, including proportions, faceting, symmetry, and polish. These elements dictate the fire, brightness, and scintillation of the stone.
Two diamonds of the same carat weight can appear vastly different based on their cut. A well-cut diamond will appear larger, clearer, and more radiant.
To ensure unmatched brilliance, only diamonds with the finest cut quality are selected by Rome Jewels for his exclusive collection.

PROPORTIONS
We provide only exceptionally cut stones that meet the highest standards of proportion and symmetry.

THE CLARITY
Clarity is graded using expert evaluation and third-party certification (such as GIA). Although no diamond is completely flawless, higher clarity enhances a diamond’s value.
- Flawless (FL) – No inclusions or blemishes visible under 10× magnification.
- Internally Flawless (IF) – No inclusions, only minor surface blemishes under 10× magnification.
- Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1 & VVS2) – Inclusions are extremely difficult to detect under 10× magnification.
- Very Slightly Included (VS1 & VS2) – Minor inclusions that range from difficult to somewhat easy to see under 10× magnification.
- Slightly Included (SI1 & SI2) – Inclusions noticeable under 10× magnification.
- Included (I1, I2, I3) – Inclusions visible under 10× magnification that may affect transparency and brilliance.

COLOR & BEYOND

GIA COLOR GRADES
White diamonds are graded on a D-to-Z scale, where D represents absolute colorlessness and Z indicates noticeable yellow or brown hues. In white diamonds, the less color present, the higher the value.
NATURAL FANCY COLOR
Fancy color diamonds are exceptionally rarer than white diamonds, making them highly coveted by collectors and investors. While clarity and carat weight contribute to value, color saturation is the defining factor.
Fancy color diamonds are graded by their hue, saturation, and distribution of color. As color intensity increases, so does value and rarity. The spectrum ranges from faint tones to the most vivid, highly saturated hues.
With his unparalleled expertise, Rome Jewels is recognized as an authority in natural fancy color diamonds, curating some of the rarest and most distinguished stones in the world.
